Maria Norseth Garli, born 1986, is a up-and-coming musician, composer and improviser based in Trondheim, Norway. She recently completed her bachelor degree in performing arts at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Gothenburg, Sweden, where teachers include Staffan Mossenmark, Anders Jormin and Lindha Kallerdahl.
Maria’s main focus is free improvised music. She has fallen in love with the duo constellation, and amongst the wonderful musicians she works with are Nina de Heney, Lindha Kallerdahl, Finn Loxbo, Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø, Kim Aksnes and Casey Moir. She has also worked and played with Jaap Blonk, Trevor Wishart, David Moss and J.Peter Schwalm, to mention a few.
SOLO: The voice, the body, the room all come together, blending with any given surrounding to form a synthesis of immediate reaction and quiet contemplation. Nothing is set, everything is possible.
